The Piedmont Choral Society

The Piedmont Choral Society, under the artistic direction of Mark D. Frye, is the areas only premier, community-based choral group and was organized in September, 1997. /files/HeaderImages/Default/PCS pic.JPGThe mission of The Piedmont Choral Society is to provide high-caliber performances of both sacred and secular choral masterworks that have stood the test of time and have become standards to which all other literature is compared. The Piedmont Choral Society is a 50-member, all-volunteer chorus made up of singers from all walks of life, many of whom are talented singers from throughout the Piedmont region of North Carolina; and many of whom hold professional positions as directors of other choral groups and church choirs. The chorus employs an artistic staff consisting of a music director and accompanist. It is governed by a board of directors, led by an elected president, and relies upon the activities of many volunteer members of the chorus and community. The chorus takes on an ambitious schedule of concerts and services throughout each season singing a Christmas Concert, a Spring Concert, and a Patriotic Benefit Concert in addition to community appearances in nursing homes, retirement centers, and other community venues; often accompanied by orchestra and guest musicians. The Piedmont Choral Society is an independent organization supported in part by a grant from the Grass Roots Arts Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, the Cabarrus Arts Council, and by the generosity of supporting members, corporations, and public sources. The Piedmont Choral Society strives to enhance the educational and cultural activities of the general population of Greater Cabarrus County, without regard to age, race, national origin, or religious background. The Piedmont Choral Society is a member of Chorus America and is a 501C (3) organization.

The choral society rehearses at Saint James Lutheran Church on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Choral Rehearsal Room.
